After three weeks and a 2000 miles cross-country trek (more
about that later), retirement is beginning to seem real. We arrived in Denver Saturday, safe and
sound.
We will be here for the next six weeks, visiting with Bryn,
Grant & Charlie.
Charlie--just about ready to crawl |
In October we plan
to fly to Mexico City and spend time with Erin, who is stationed there with the
U.S. State Department. We have never
been to Mexico and look forward to Erin showing us around.
Around the first of November, we will go to
Ecuador—specifically Cuenca. We hear that it has a year round spring-like
climate, is welcoming to expats, has good food, an interesting cultural scene,
and perhaps most enticing, it has a low cost of living.
We will return to the U.S. sometime around the first of the
year—after that our plans are a little more fluid—hopefully we will be able to
help Charlie celebrate his first birthday on January 28th and then
head to Italy in the spring.
We will use this blog
to keep our friends and family informed.
Sign into our blog if you want to know more detail about what we are
doing. Otherwise, we will send a summary
Christmas letter, as usual.
In our second blog we will write about some highlights of
our trip from Greenville, NC to Denver, CO.
We think about those of you who we expect might be interested in our
year of travel and always wish you well.
